Whether you’re building a deck in a wet, frigid Northwest
climate or in the dry heat of a Southwestern desert, thanks to
rice hulls, Terratec Naturals consistently outperforms pine,
cedar and wood-based composites. This means less work for you.
Never again will you have to waste a nice weekend sealing,
staining, sanding or refinishing your deck. Once your deck is
installed, there’s no more to do–ever. The occasional washing
and regular sweeping is all that’s required to keep your deck
looking great.
The special formulation of our composite material also makes
Terratec Naturals decking very dense, hard and durable. The
hardness of the board helps to keep scratching to a minimum.
It’s a fact that all outdoor materials can scratch. Even
hardwood floors and stone can scratch when objects with rough or
sharp edges are pulled across the surface. The nice thing about
Terratec Naturals is it takes a good amount of pressure to
really mar the surface. And, when it does happen, the embossed
texture in the boards makes most scratches hardly noticeable.
Still, as with any fine deck surface, care should be taken not
to drag deck furniture, or any heavy object across your deck.

Rice hulls’ high silica content is what helps prevent stains.
Terratec Naturals tests at the top of the list of composites for
stain resistance.
Similar to scratching, staining is something that can happen on
most natural surfaces. If spills are left on surfaces long
enough it is more likely to leave a stain. So, even though Terratec Naturals is far less likely to stain than other
composites, we still recommend you wipe up spills as soon as
possible.
Terratec Naturals also provides a solution to the nagging
problems that crop up in more than a few wood-based
composites–things like deck boards that buckle or develop gaps.
This can turn a beautiful new deck onto one you wish you’d never
installed. Terratec Naturals was developed as an installation
system designed to eliminate problems related to natural
expansion and contraction.
Like wood, all composite decking expands and contracts with
changes in the weather. Knowing this, we engineered a hidden
fastener clip system (Quick Clips) that allows the deck boards
to move, but in a controlled way. All boards are pinned at the
center of the deck, which directs expansion and contraction
movement to the edges of the deck where a special edging trim
board (G-Trim) is used to hide this movement inside the trim.
The result is a deck that will look great for years rather than
months. |
